Jon:Definitely. Without him, no Alien. It's an interesting thought... Much like the potential cinematic climate if his Dune had created the blueprint for blockbusters.
Me:Yeah that's definitely something to think about... Whether it could have given us summertime success with a bit more weight and existential essence or been a total failure, and things continued to the conclusion of 15 comic book films per year.
I think regardless of it being seen by a mass audience, it shaped cinema no matter how you look at it. He was at least ripped off pretty hard. But yeah... Visually we'd probably of gotten a giant boost, a new basis, and a freedom to play with images which an audience accept as metaphorical rather than literal.
